I am using the BitDefender Live-CD to remove virus infected files from a Windoed XP machine and have two issues, which I have encountered and do not understand why they are happening.

The first issue is with a file identified by AVG free version running on the XP installation, to be infected, but AVG cannot remove, quarantine or repair the file. Booting to the BitDefender Live-CD and mounting the NTFS partition using Captive NTFS, I am still unable to delete or shred to file in question. I have reset the file permissions while booted to Linux, I thought, to allow me to be able to delete this file but still am unable to do so.

The second issues involves scanning the same NTFS partition while booted to the BitDefender CD. I have updated the virus definitions at this point and started a scan of the partition when after about 15 minutes of scanning has passed, Linux reboots the system for no apparent reason. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
