Hi everybody,

I have a problem with the routine as discribed at:
http://www.thetechgu...wto/xpbootlogo/

I tried paint, but there is no "SHIFT-O" shortcut and apearently no other way to import a color palette.

Then I tried Photoshop. Although you can import the 16.act color table here, it seams impossible to save to the correct bitmap.

ResourceHacker keeps telling me I have created an invalid "bitmap", so it doesn't import it to "ntoskrnl.exe".

Any suggestions anyone???

Thanx people.

Hey.

thats simple.

I describe it using Photoshop, cause its the better program.

I hope you find the functions in Photoshop. I am using the german version so i have to translate the stuff.

After Importing the 16 Color Palette you have to change the Mode to 'RGB-Color'. Then switch back to 'Indexed Color'. Click OK at the Indexed Colors Config Window. Then goto File, Save As..., Choose Bitmap (BMP) and save your file. Then a BMP Save Options Dialog should appear. Choose 'Windows' and '8 bit' - THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT YOU HAVE TO UNCHECK THE 'COMPRESSED (RLE)' THING. Then ResHack will eat this BMP.

All you have to do is save a 16 colors .bmp file named "Boot.bmp" in your windows directory. The palette can be anything, it doesn't need to be the default windows palette.

The second thing, is open your boot.ini (usually c:\boot.ini) file, and add "/bootlogo /noguiboot" to the first line in the [
