download fedora, redhat, mandrake, suse...ect (they are all free)
make a boot disk with it
format the winblows drive
and load the linux os
problem solved and you helped the world by not paying microsuck for inferior os'
if you really want a microsuck os get one for free

2- Pray that you have broadband.
3- Download said Linux flavor (usually multiple CD-sized downloads [600-700MB] in order to get it all)...
4- Pray you downloaded the ISO versions so that you can just burn to CD and go rather than figure out how to make the CD's boot.
5- Make backups of your data files or kiss them good-bye.
6- Record said flavor of Linux to CD's.
7- Boot from the first CD and pray that setup actually recognizes your hardware and works... and follow the unnecessarily complicated setup instructions to decide how to partition and format your hard drive (thus eliminating Windows and anything else you had)
8- Pray that your flavor actually supports your hardware in GUI mode or that you're comfortable with a super-amazing, powerful command prompt that can do anything and everything--- if you know how to spell and use all the commands... and parameters... etc etc.
9- Select from dozens, sometimes even hundreds of "packages" to install.
10- Complain and whine and cuss about how Windows should have all this stuff too while cursing their name for every time they try and you think they're violating antitrust agreements.
11- Boot into Linux and enjoy the extremely secure, extremely functional environment you've created for yourself.
12- Cuss, scream, and pound on things because you can't really use any of it without ripping out hair because of the downright stupid GUI environment or the complicated command line. Afterall, "yum check-update" only works on Fedora Core to check for updates, but if you want to install them you must use "yum update" (keeping in mind the irony that "Updates are YUMmy" (and there are dozens of them) even though we all whine that Windows releases them and it ticks us off.

re: the "why don't you all buy a legit copy" brigade...financially security breeds smug-faced "i'm all right jack" preachers...yes?
sadly linux et al is still a geeks toy, not a viable alternative. the monopolies commision or whatever should force microsoft to make xp affordable to the masses.

There is a damn good reason for cracking a Windows XP software. As a company, we have a Microsoft Action Pack Subscription with 10 licenses of Windows XP for instance. But as developpers and testers, it often happens that we have to reinstall, add a new disk, change the motherboard, and so on and so forth. After two or three activations, it started to say that activation was not valid
Okay, the procedure is a bit stupid, but: first you call, you have to enter 8x6 digits through your phone, second, it tells you it is invalid (which obviously you knew already), thrid you hold to line to get in contact with a "service operator", fourth, you have to give him (AGAIN) the 8x6 digits that are on your screen, fifth, he will give you another 8x6 digits code, and your copy is activated correctly.
(Usually, after two hours it crashes and you have to re-install it...)
Anyway... "Juste un coup de gueule..."

is it not just a matter of downloading the correct keygen for which ever version of xp you have, generating a key, going to activate typeing it in and there you go?
Unless it's XP SP2. It won't accept some keygen keys.

like whichever ant piracy geek that said were theives!!?? and i agree with whoever said that if XP / windows was cheap there wouldnt be this problem... and lastly , theres still a call for a decent activation removal crack/tool.
oh and as an afterthought, i like linux, but will someone please rape/murder all the bloody linux prostitutes.. i mean pushers, Linux , i repeat Linux is not the answer you know why???! 'cus linux doesnt fully support all hardware, and it doesnt support all those windows programs i have and things like wine etc claim to be able to emu, so linux promo's , get Fcuked!

I've followed this thread for some time hoping to simply fix the problems caused by SP2 (i've got xp pro). My problem is I can't use any of the excellent advice here because my system won't let me change the key, despite trying all the various programs mentioned that normally do this. It seems I am blocked in some way from changing the key. Any suggestions?
Uninstall sp2 from add remove programs
I wouldn't recommend installing XP SP1 without first changing your CD-KEY if yours is a Warez'ed copy.
run regedit, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents\OOBEtimer
and change the value to: ca,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 - this will delete your key and make your XP un-registered.
To RE-register a CORP XP PRO with a new CD-KEY, run: %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a from START-> RUN, select the TELEPHONE option and hit NEXT, click on the CHANGE PRODUCT KEY button, enter the new CORP key, hit UPDATE, this will take you to the previous window, from there, just EXIT and REBOOT. Your SP1 and Windows Update will now work.

Here I have an app that knocks XP activation SPARK OUT! I bought it off eBay for £1 would you believe!
Just run the exe file 3 times and on the third time you will get "file already patched". Dont ask me how it works, though there is an explination of it on the readme file.

But I realized that the easiest thing to do is to download a torrent downloader (I prefer bitcomet) and just torrent this file:
http://thepiratebay.....php?id=3415196
It is XP Pro SP2, Corporate Edition
this means that not once will it ask you for activation or serial number. I just came back to post this because I cant stand when people find an easier alternative and never come back to tell others. It only took me 2 hours to download b/c there are so many seeders
This is also much safer than antiwpa-ing another copy of XP because this is nulled and therefore does not have any relations with MS anymore
Mods, feel free to delete this post as it obviously does pertain to torrenting; i just assumed a post with antiwpa links in it couldnt really get hurt by any other similar posts
If you have any torrent questions, just ask..
