Title: trouble with xp network
Post by: dbeethe on January 10, 2004, 09:14:53 AM
I've got two PC's, one with XP home hardwired to a Linksys router running ZoneAlarm and a second with XP Pro with Linksys USB wireless access. I can't get either one to recognize the other. I can ping from one to the other, but when I try search/computers, I get no results. When trying to use net view \\xp-pro, I get network path not found. I've got both setup as MSHOME, disabled NetBeui and still no luck. I can run tracert from the one that is hardwired, but the one that is using wireless access point, returns a communication error.

Any ideas?

Thank you

I originally tried to set up a similar network with no success. I wound up using a hub/switch between the computers and then connect the hub to the router. I was also using the linksys router. I'm also wondering, however, why u are using zonealarm if u have a linksys router. The router is a hardware firewall. I'm no expert in these matters so someone correct me if I'm giving misinformation.
