Title: XP too slow on boot-up
Post by: squarehead on January 11, 2004, 06:02:14 PM
Hi everybod,

My pc seems to be running slowly, and XP Pro takes about 60 sec to boot up.

My specs are:Is there a bottleneck somewhere in my system? Or could it be caused by complicated drivers, software installed?

I've been through msconfig and the Windows services list, and disabled any unnecessary programs/services, but it still takes too long.

I've defragged and cleaned out temp folders, still no diff. I don't have internet access on it, so no malware or trojans /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Does anybody have an idea as to the cause?

Any help appreciated.

Mine takes 60 seconds to fully load up windows and all my programs like antivirus, firewall, ati mulimedia center ect. My specs are ....
Athlon @ 1.6
512 pc133
80 Gig 7200rpm 8mb cache WD JB800
Abit KT7A RAID
ATI 9600 Pro AIW
XP Pro Sp1

You bottleneck is the same as mine, the hard drive. The faster it spins the faster XP will be loaded. If you don't already have a 7200rpm 8mb cache drive you could get one. Or if you have $$$ get a WD Raptor 10k rpm drive but that's SATA or go scuzzy. Personally I can live with 60sec and put my $ to some other pc hardware. /rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />
