Title: missing 700mb!!!!!!!!!!!&#

I will bhe greatful if anybody can solve my problem or give me a logical explanation.
Anyway i am using windows XP PROFFESIONAL, and i have very limited free space in my hdd.To be more specific it is 1,47 gb of free space. And today i have copied a 700 mb of avi file to my desktop and when i checked my free space as it should be it was only 712mb left.After watching the movie i delete the file with shift+delete and the file was gone from my desk top BUT when i check my hdd it was still 712 mb and now even though i delet the file i done have my free space back......what might be the problem.......

did you delete from recycle bin
try restarting your machine and then take a look

i delete it with shift+delete so it was never in the nin...i done a defrag too and restart my comp but its not there.After defrad there was a note saying that 700mb recycled\nprotect\00014709.avi and i dont know what that means......
