started the pc and xp will try to start. then it reboots over and over. i formatted and reloaded xp. a week later it did it again. any ideas why this is going on

also when i use the cd to have it do the repair it gives a list of files that it says it cannot write to the disk. i go into the repair console and delete them manualy and it just keeps finding more.

Sounds Like you Could be hitting a Stop error
Eg. The Blue Screen of death.
And Since windows Defualt setting is to reboot on getting one you never get to see it. Its a Pain in the ass.
Are you able to goto safe mode? if so right click on my computer and goto properties and in one of the tabs there is a Setting for Errors
-
Right click on my computer and go to properties/Advanced/Start up Recov settings/unchech auto restart. OK.

What if you are unable to get into Safe Mode? PC is on a constant rebooting to Start-up Options.
-
You can attemt to fix using Recovery Console on cd.

Nope can't access. PC is on a continuous recyle. Occasionally when the screen flickers I see a blue screen. I can only get to the boot options and in selecting each I come right back to options.

I am having this same fricking annoying problem now. I thought I had nailed it down to the power supply. I replaced and I am still getting the problem. What is going on?

I have seen this with the new dell d600 laptops where the wifi adapter has interference with other signals that cause some type of harware faluire and xp keeps rebooting. I had to actually move the laptop about 25 yards and turn off the wifi adapter.
