Had a power failure at my office today. The other 9 or so computers are fine in the office but mine will not boot properly.
XP home/Hp pavilion 1.7
It boots in safe mode & safe with networking
It will not boot to last known good config.
Not booting in Normal mode but it does flash a blue error screen prior to going black. Can't read the screen it is too fast.
Tried a clean boot using MSCONFIG and removing all unnecessary pgms etc.
Still not booting in normal mode.
Tried a restore to last checkpoint, Mid - January
Still not booting in normal mode.
Because of all the files and programs installed on this machine the last thing I want to do is re-install XP.
Also in the Windows folder a 64K Dump###.tmp file is being created with each attempted boot. Opened in notepad, can't decipher. Any way to trap the error or format the dump file?
Thanks in advance for your help.
