Hello all,
I just purchase a new Maxtor SATA 160GB drive and have installed it on a system with 2 PATA drives - one Maxtor 160GB as master and an IBM 60 GB as slave on primary IDE channel. My secondary IDE channel has a Plextor Premium CD burner as master and a Sony DVD-ROM as slave.
My motherboard is an ASUS P4PE, with Promise PDC20376 SATA/Raid controller and I have installed the latest drivers for it ver. 1.0.1.37 which I found online.
During boot up, I see a message to enter the raid array configuration. I do so and see that my new Maxtor SATA drive is listed as "Unassigned".
I exit and boot up to windows XP and I cannot see my drive anywhere, not even in the disk management window usually used for partitioning drives.
Maxtor's website suggests the use of Maxblast software to format the drive. I tried the version that creates a bootable DOS disk (the windows version of Maxblast gave me an error and would not run at all) and it does not see the SATA drive either.
This is very frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestions please!@#$
Thanks in advance for your help.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am NOT trying to install XP on the new SATA drive. XP is installed on the Maxtor PATA drive.
Thanks.
