Title: I'd like to change...
Post by: Norgoth on February 16, 2004, 01:46:51 PM
Hello,

I would like to change a picture in Windows XP. But only the picture you see when you put your password to enter in Windows XP. I'd like to change this picture (the background picture) and move the login-field to the top-right and the login-button too.

I found the filel, with Resource Hacker, c:/windows/system32/logonui.exe, but there are only the pictures. How can I move the login-field (where you put your password as Administrator if you wan't to login Windows XP).

I hope you understood my question. I apologize to you for my loathsome english, but I'm french...  /rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

Thanks,

Norgoth

Hi there Nogorth,

this is actually quite simple:

First, place the .bmp image you would like to see at the log on screen inside the system32 folder:  C:\WINDOWS\system32

then, run regedt32 from the start/run menu.  Expand KEY_USERS, then expand .DEFAULT.  Next, expand Control Panel and select Desktop.  Now, in the right hand pane, double click Wallpaper.  This will open a new window entitled "Edit String".  Now enter the name of the .bmp image you placed in the System32 folder under the value "Value data".

This will set the log on wallpaper for all users.

Hope this helps. /rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />
