I was wondering if only certain videocards were compatible with a motherboard or if all video cards work with all motherboards? Thank you.

That depends on the type of videocard and motherboard you have. If the videocard is AGP and you have an AGP slot on your MOBO then chances are it will work. If you have an AGP slot you might wanna check what it is rated at. Example I have a 4X AGP slot in my MOBO most new videocards are 8X but almost all of them are backwards compatible but you won't get the full benefit of the 8X card if you are using it a 4X slot. Got it?

oblong is correct but don't worry about putting a 8X card in a 4X AGP slot because the 8X is just a theoretical speed increase. I've seen tests of cards that are 4X and 8X and the benchmarks are the same.
