i am running xp home edition. my problems is that i can't get the computer to recognize the router. the only ip address i can get is the standard microsoft 169.254.77.68 i've gone into the local area connection properties and removed the the client and the servers, and the only thing i couldn't uninstall was the internet protocol. restarted the computer and reinstalled the parts again. still nothing was different. then i decided to run a restore on all of xp, still no success. i've tried in the command prompt doing everything i can with the ipconfig options to flush the dns or renew the ip but error messages come back saying cannot renew, or an operation has been attempted on something not in a socket. if there is some way to make xp drop all its setting for networking and start fresh? any advice would be useful, please help me its driving me nuts!!
matt
p.s. this is an on board LAN connection, i have tried PCI NIC and the same results occur. also i tried setting up a home or office network. and when i check the status only paquetes are being sent, zero recieved.

/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' /> Just reinstall your winsock for a fresh start.. then reinstall your tcp/ips and other protocols.
