Title: administrative tools slip
Post by: jer jer on July 15, 2004, 11:37:28 AM
so I'm trying to optimize Win2K Pro for audio recording and I read about how in 'Control Panel/AdministrativeTools/Services' you can set these to Auto, Manual or Disable. So I disable everything and now I am in trouble. It won't let me re-enable anything. It says I need plug and play (which I tried to enable in BIOS) but when I try to enable this service it says I need plug and play for plug and play.
I know I did a bad thing but any suggestions would be very nice.

this site may be able to help

http://www.blackviper.com/ (http://\"http://www.blackviper.com/\")

the page you want is here

http://www.blackviper.com/WIN2K/servicecfg.htm (http://\"http://www.blackviper.com/WIN2K/servicecfg.htm\")

but for you I think you have to go into the registry to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PlugPlay]

and change the "Start" key to "2"

thats

"Start"=dword:00000002
