Hi guys and gals, I'm the big newb to the forum. Anyhow got a question on ram choices.
Currently I have 512mb DDR(266) 2100. Bascially I'm thinking about upgrading to 768 and need a few tips. I saw that my motherboard can handle pc 2700(333). If I want to upgrade to 2700 I believe I need to replace all my current ram with new 2700. If I decide to upgrade all of it will the 2700 make a decent difference or should I just throw in 1 stick of 512 2100 (giving me a total of 768). Also I saw that there were a few different types I know that my board takes DDR SDRAM but I also saw when looking to by one brand stating that this particualr type was DDR DRAM does this make a big difference. I'm not even sure if my board will accept the latter type.
Any advice, much appreciated.
Cya

As far as i know you need to stick with the same type of memory, 2100 for example and can't mix DDR SDRAM with DDR DRAM. Personally would get another stick of 512 2100 DDR SDRAM from same manufacturer as the one you currently own. Idon't think you will see much difference between the 2100 and the 2700 as opposed to the cost factor. Doesn't 512 and 512 = 1024?

LOL. This guy is right. 512 + 512 = 1024. Go to school son. But the differance between 2100 and 2700 isnt worth it, if you asked me, i would say get a new mobo and pc 3200 ram (400mhz). You should see a signifigant differance with that. But if you just want more memory... get another 512 stick of pc 3200 incase you upgrade mobo later (and you can overclock it) =D.
