I recently installed a copy of system mechanic 4, and when I ran a few "optimizations", my system basically crashed - when I boot the system, the taskbar loads but no start menu, quicklaunch toolbars load but with no icons, and the majority of programs will not load, and give an error message saying that the application configuration is incorrect.  Anyway ways to fix this without reloading the OS?

If your registry program made a backup before it made the changes, and it should have, boot in safe mode and restore the registry using the program
