logon failure: user has not been granted the reqauested logon type
I have 3 pcs, all xp sp2, connected to a dsl with built in switch.
all same workgroup
all have guest accounts
all no firewalls
all run network setup wizard tens of times
all are found in the view workgroup computers
but one of them give logon failure error.
although it can access the others, but not the other way around.
"everyone" is in access this computer from network.
i had the same problem with sp1 and even when u upgraded all 3 to sp2 the problem is still there.
i tried everything, duz anybody have any ideas ?

Try this:
Go to network properties > TCP/IP properties > Advanced > WINS and enable NETBIOS over TCP/IP
Also its worth checking that the user can logon locally on easch machine.

In your "Local Security Settings" under Administrative Tools you'll find:
Security Settings
->Local Policies
-->User Rights Assignemnt
One of the options (first on my machine) is "Access this computer from the network"
Make sure the user is in there in the form of MACHINE\USERNAME
Had the same problem after a Windows XP reinstall and it fixed it in a jiffy (after 5 weeks of looking around for answers and getting none). Still don't know why Windows just didn't add my user account as it had all the other times I've reinstalled windows. XP
