Title: Downloads interrupted

I'm running XP-Home and have always had problems with downloading files from the web.  Sometimes it all goes smoothly, more often than not though downloads will stop somewhere along the way and I will have to cancel and then restart the download.  Sometimes I have to do this several times to get a big file.  Any suggestions?  I connect to the world via cable modem.
