Title: CD RW access as \"user\" with W2K
Post by: [email protected] on July 06, 2001, 04:20:18 PM
Apparently, either W2K Pro or the common burning apps such as Nero, EZCD, etc won\'t let a \"user\" burn to an installed CD burner.  It appears that only someone with admin privileges can do a burn.  Is W2K the culprit?  If so, how can I get around that?  I really don\'t want to give normal users admin privileges, thereby allowing them to inadvertently mess up their system, but I do want to give them the ability to burn CD\'s.  Even power user privileges is not high enough.  Thanks, vw

Well, can you tell us what you did, in case someone else has the same problem?  Unfortunately I have to have both my wife and I setup as Administrator users.  Me just because I want to have full power and her because Dragon Naturally Speaking 4 will NOT work unless it\'s run under an administrator user.  But I know others do the \"right\" thing and don\'t run as Administrators, and might run into this.

I do run as a normal user when I\'m in linux though, root\'s baaaaaad
