So is it possible to fix winxp rc1 so that it doesn\'t bother you for cd key and activation like you can with win2k?

Don\'t think so, not yet.  First, the beta copies of XP are setup like the evaluation version of win2k (they use the same keys and everything).  You can\'t bypass the key in the evaluation version (well maybe you can, but you\'d have to do more than just replace 000 with 270).  In other words, we won\'t know till it hits RTM.  Then if I can get hold of a real, retail copy; then an msdn copy, I can see what\'s different.  That\'s assuming the msdn copy doesn\'t need a key.
