I have recently upgraded my motherboard and proccesor as well as my operating system. I have updated all drivers and so forth but when I tryed to download and install direct x 9.0c I get a in compatabilty error while installing Direct x 9.0c for windows xp pro evaluation version. Anyone have a idea what the error is caused by please let me know.

You will have to reactivate your copy of Windows after the hardware change

Just curious if this will help
Go to Start>>run>>>type in "dxdiag" without quote
Under the System tab uncheck "Check for Whql digital signatures"
Restart your computer and try again

very helpful thanks I have figured the issue I and currently rolling a evaluation version of windowsmy former o/s was 98 but I cant reinstall it cause it gives me a system doesn't match message when I try to but among other thing I seem to have misplaced my 98 reg any idea if microsoft has a way of recoverying it for me of must I just get a whole new o/s or activate the eval though I would likly get xp home for a bit cheaper
