Title: Help finding heat sink?
Post by: jode on January 02, 2005, 03:54:01 PM
I am working on a project where I need some sort of heat sink, and I have searched all over the internet with no results.  The heat sinks I have found are the normal computer ones, and various other extruded shapes, but what I am looking for is the kind that you might see encasing a stereo amplifier or a AC/DC power inverter.  In other words, it is a heat sink that doubles as the heat dispersion system, and the actual exterior casing of the product.  Basically, for my project, I need to find a manufacturer who makes those casings/extrusions.
I thought maybe someone here might have some insight into a USA manufacturer or distributor where I could buy some heat sink material meeting the above specifications.

If you're looking for a production supplier try Thermalloy. Thermalloy (http://\"http://www.thermalloy.com\")

If you need only a few (or one) check:

Marlin P. Jones (http://\"http://www.mpja.com\")
or
Mendelson Electronics (http://\"http://www.meci.com\")

They handle surplus, so stock varies from week to week. They have some 6-9 inch long heatsinks and MPJA has a small case-style unit.
