Hi, I keep getting " sgtray.exe application error" during, what I believe, is software installations. For instance, recently I attempted to install Retrospect Express (from Dantz ) which was bundled with a Maxtor 300GB external hard drive. I couldn't personally install the Retrospect software so I returned it to Bestbuy. Then I received the same message during install of Pinnacle software ( video digitizing ). Most recently, I bought my wife a Dell Axim X50 PDA for Christmas and during software installation, the sgtray.exe application error kept surfacing. The apps show up in the program menu but I am not entirely certain they are "damaged/corrupt", in view of the incessant error message. How do I correct this file? Is there a program I can download which can repair individual files?
I have a new Dell PC 4600C, Win XP home w/SP2; 2.8GHz.
Thank you for your time,
V.Dimerc, M.D.

Just curious vdimerc
Open up your Task manager
Right click the bottom Task Bar and click Task manager
Can you stop the process of sgtray.exe
I have Sonic Recordnow on this computer
sgtray.exe may be related too this
Go to Start>>All Programs
Expand Sonic if you see it
Expand Recordnow>>>Click Recordnow
Click the options button>>The icon that looks like a wrench
May be different on your computer
Here's some more info
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas...library/sgtray/ (http://\"http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/sgtray/\")
Under the General selection
Uncheck "Launch Recordnow when I start my computer"
Uncheck "Check for updates"
OK it and then restart your computer
Does sgtray.exe show in your running processes on bootup?
Try installing your software again, let me know if this helps
EDIT>>>I bought the wife a Dell Laptop for Xmas last year
I've had sgtray.exe disabled ever since, so I wouldn't know about any error messages involved with it
