Title: painted myself into a corner

HELP!! I tried windows xp pro, it was a nightmare! I removed it through the add/remove programs through the uninstaller, and did a reinstall of windows 98.

Now, as windows starts to load I get an explorer error message that "the program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down".  

The details indicate: Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module BROWSKUI.DLL at 015f:7117b524.

Windows will not load. I have a blank screen other than the explorer error message.

I have reloaded windows 98 twice by booting from a boot disk, but still the same results. I can get into bios at startup, but don't know what would be needed there. Otherwise, I am dead in the water.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would opt to do a clean install of 98
