Hi i have been infected (once again) with a desktop hijacker and a taskbar hijacker (the symbol of a yellow triangle with a "!" in the middle). Another agressive advertising program written by someone who should be castrated in my opinion
/mad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> . i can temporily solve the problem of the desktop hijacker by turning it off in control panal display desktop web tab. however the taskbar i cannot do anything with it keeps informing me i have no adequete spyware protection on my pc (kinda ironic really) and gives me popups telling me the same thing. I have scanned my pc with hijackthis v 1.99 but i know very little on this level! help would be greatly apprectiated from someone more knowledgeable than myself,

Hi Guest Steve, can you do me a favor
I need you to disable Spybot's Tea Timer until we have you clean, it's a great feature, but can get in the way of any fixes
Open Spybot>>Click MODE>>ADVANCED MODE>>OK the prompt
TOOLS>>RESIDENT>>Uncheck
"Resident Tea Timer" >>>Accept the change
Leave sdhelper enabled
I need you to do the same thing for
SpySubtract
Spycatcher
Spyware Begone's Freescan
AntiHijacker 1.2 <--I've never even heard of this one
Besides Spybot, which of the above ones did you pay for?
Most are bogus, can cause more troubles than there worth
If you didn't pay for Spyware Begone, uninstall it
AntiHijacker 1.2, Never heard of, if you didn't pay for it, remove it, can you let me know where you downloaded it from
SpySubtract>>Up to you to keep, if you didn't pay for it, remove it
Spycatcher>>Same as the last one
Hold onto Spybot 1.3 <<--don't remove it just disable the Tea Timer feature for now
Restart your computer after Removals and disabling Tea Timer
Come back here and update your version of hijackthis
You can download the latest version from my signature below
Save it to your
C:\Documents and Settings\Stavros.ZED-CZY9P128STZ\Desktop\UTILITES\Adware
folder
Allow to overwrite the old version if prompted
Post back a fresh hijackthis log
Post the whole log including the top header, which includes Hijackthis' version
Operating System,etc...
Also, let me know what spyware removal software you uninstalled, we may have to rid you of the leftovers...
-
Hi again, Thankyou for a prompt response.
I have removed the software you recommended i take off,
Spycatcher
SpySubtract
Anti-hijacker v1.2 (spybot recorded this doing something nasty when i tried to uninstall it from control pannal, which gave me an option to kill it, which i did. However it wasn't properly deleted so i transfered the folder it was in to the recycle bin and emptied it)
As for spyware begone freescan, i removed that via control panal about a month previous to posting this! If it is still on my system i would appreciate some help in removing it!
I havn't paid for any of the above, they where all free. i tried buying anti-hijacker to see the website for you www.dummysoftware.com (hmmmm, do i feel silly
/rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> )
here is the updated log:
