Title: office xp [outlook] and ms mail
Post by: donsupa on August 14, 2001, 02:36:51 PM
It is documented that Outlook 2002 [XP] does not support the MS Mail service, which is a nightmare in itself for me since my company\'s internal email is handled by MS Mail.

Has anyone found a way where the MS Mail service can be added to Outlook 2002 [XP] with the same functionality as Outlook 2000/97??

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,

It can be done by modifying the mapisvc.inf file to include the relevant lines for the ms-mail service.

If you upgraded from OL2000 there will only be one line missing, but if it was a fresh install there will be whole sections.

Compare a mapisvc.inf file from OL2000 to get the sections you need.

Also, if a fresh install then the relevant files will need to be copied over from an OL2000 install as well. I\'ll have to wait till I\'m at work to post a more thorough response with file details etc.

Obviously, if you were to phone MS for support on this they would tell you to go forth!
