Title: Server Glitches
Post by: Josetann on March 04, 2005, 04:19:15 PM
The driver for the ethernet card seems to keep hanging every couple of days, we have it narrowed to a problem between it and having APIC enabled.  We're going to get someone to disable it, and see how it runs then.

**Update:  In the interest of keeping downtime to a minimum, I installed a non-smp kernel, recompiled the network drivers (they have to be compiled separately for each kernel version), rebooted, crossed my fingers, and everything worked fine.  Having an smp kernel for the server wasn't a big deal as the cpu we use is a P4 with HyperThreading.  Had we actually had two physical cpu's, we would have troubleshooted this further.
