HELP HELP HELP!!!! I'm a newbie here, so hopefully my post will provide all of the necessary info. In any case, I contracted a host of adware/spyware literally in one evening & now my PC is littered with popups & swamped RAM. I did manage to correct the LSP hijacking that occurred also, but the rest of this stuff is the PITS. Anyone care to assist? The HJT log reads:

Download L2mfix from here

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

Enter your task manager and end task on AdDestroyer.exe
Next:Access your Add/Remove programs and Remove AdDestroyer and/ or VirtualBouncer it's bogus
or look in your Start>>All programs menu for an uninstaller
I recommend you remove this if you didn't pay for it
Please Print this out or save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE (http://\"http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001060608000039?OpenDocument&ExpandSection=4#_Section4\")
Find and delete if found

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05 (http://\"http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/\")
Ensure you have this version or the paid version
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
Perform a Full system scan--"Uncheck Search for Negligible Risk Entries" before scanning
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button
RESTART your computer to finish the cleaning process

Rescan with Hijackthis and post a fresh log

That entry is prob for the WMI Update Utility left over from my recent uninstall of their full antivirus application. I have since uninstalled that as well.
Thank you SO much for your assist...my system seems fine now & all is good on my end. Couldn't have done it without you. Kudos to you! I sure hope this is your day job...you certainly know your work!

With those being leftovers it may indicate that you never successfully fully uninstalled

Not knowing what version of Norton's you had installed, you could check their website
for manual uninstallation options
If everything is running better
You should disable system restore---restart your computer--enable system restore
This will clear all your restore points and ensure you don't restore any nasties
Once reenabled it will create a fresh restore point

Once back in Windows and System Restore is reenabled
You should set up protection against future attacks
SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
