Title: Help needed debugging my computer.
Post by: Shinra on March 26, 2005, 06:09:05 PM
Yesterday, my computer was infected with a lot of spyware/adware/malware/etc. I download Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Registry Mechanic to remove most of it, but there are a couple of problems that they don't detect. I know there's still something wrong with my computer because random pop-ups appear all the time, even when I'm not connected to the internet. I thought the problem was daosearch, but my homepage hasn't set itself to daosearch.com for a while, so I think it might be gone.

I poked around in my computer's files, and found some suspicious looking stuff...I don't dare delete it, though; last time I tried to fix spyware problems on my own we had to take the computer to the shop. xx; So...can anyone help me? Here's my logfile:

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/.../search/ie.html (http://\"http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/.../search/ie.html\")
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com (http://\"http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com\")
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D72DB430-05A4-443B-B27A-48CE3E910397} - blank (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AUNPS2] RUNDLL32 AUNPS2.DLL,_Run@16
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NBUFWAZ3] \Progra~1\NBUFWAZ3\NBUFWAZ3.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [WinTools] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WINTOOLS\WTOOLSA.EXE

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Access your Add/Remove programs and remove if found
Wintools for IE

Restart your computer

Find and delete these files or folders if found
AUNPS2.DLL <-file, do a Search for it
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\WINTOOLS

Can you also go to this site please
Give this site time to load
Jotti's Online Malware scan (http://\"http://virusscan.jotti.org/\")

Use the browse button and navigate to this file on your hard disk
C:\PROGRAM FILES\NBUFWAZ3\NBUFWAZ3.exe <--this file

Right click on the file and choose Select
Then use the Submit button
Let it finish scanning
Could you post back the results of the scan back here please, just the scanner results

Along with a fresh Hijackthis log

Deleted the HJT files, didn't find Wintools in my program list, deleted AUNPS2.DLL, didn't find Wintools again, and didn't find NBUFWAZ3.exe for the malware scan.

EDIT: I'm afraid more programs have installed themselves since my post. When I run Ad-Aware, it freezes. Here's an updated log:

The WinMX community is back, the files are back, and the users are taking a stand. Get connected Today (http://\"http://www.MXPie.com\").

It is time for the RIAA to understand that they cannot destroy filesharing by intimidation any longer. They may be able to bully Corporations, but the users are not going to sit by and let it happen.

MXPIE (http://\"http://www.MXPie.com\") is an effort by the users and for the users, with an agenda of making WinMX (http://\"http://www.vladd44.com/mx/\") a p2p network not only for the users, but maintained, organized and perpetuated by the people.

Come Join us, we believe that we can make a difference in this fight to take away our rights. We welcome all of those who are tired of going from one p2p network to another simply because the RIAA flexed its billions of dollars worth of muscles.

MXPIE (http://\"http://www.MXPie.com\") is quick, easy and free to use, it contains no spyware, adware or any other form of malware. We even provide a manual modification that allows you to see exactly what is being done that only takes minutes to do yourself.

Another site worth note is Computer Problem Help Forum (http://\"http://www.gemini777.net\"), this site has also been at the forefront of this movement, and can help you with any general computer problem that may or may not be related to WinMX.

Check out the MXPIE Website (http://\"http://www.MXPie.com\") for everything you need.

I hope to see you on WinMX soon! Realtime help is available for WinMX 3.53 users. Go to WinMX Channels (http://\"http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=6514\").
