guestolo,
For the last couple of weeks, my computer has progressively refused to shut down. I t's getting worse by the day.
I stopped SG to see if that was the problem but it was not.
Do you have any ideas what could be causing this?
I also run Mwav.exe and this is what it said:

Can you do me a favor Meelox
Uninstall your version of Spybot 1.2
from Add/Remove programs
After that
Download and Install Spybot S&D 1.3 (http://\"http://www.download.com/3000-8022-10122137.html\")
After installation--SEARCH FOR UPDATES
Check, and download and updates
Check for Problems---FIX everything in RED
Restart your computer
Let me know if it finds anything
By the way, did you install that version of Sygate I linked you too before?
Just checking
-
I think I did ... the only sygate I have you told me to get it...
its version 5.5 build 2710
I think??? my sygate is good... AVG gets stuck every now and again but I like it!
Will get the new spybot and I will let you know what happens ...
sorry i havent been at the computer for the last few hours.... grandbaby came to play!
thanks for being there for me!!!!!
-
That's okay, I'll check my version of Sygate and make sure your running the proper one
See what happens with Spybot
A bad shutdown could also happen with a corrupt sound file
or a needed patch, we'll see what happens later however
Edit>>Just started the other computer
We're running the same version of Sygate, so that's not the problem
Run spybot and fix problems and restart, let me know if it finds anything in RED
-
Found several entries in red
searchmiracle
alexa related
altnet
clipgenie
dyfuca
effectivebandtoolbar
ibis toolbar
isearchtech
look2me
networkessentials
I let it fix them all...
I also wanted to tell you.Last week my screen went completely blank,
tried aother smaller screen it worked fine, tried the blank one on another computer and it would not do anything at all ...so i figured, bad monitor... I bought a new one and It's a plug and play "mag Innovision" windows found the driver for it but every once in awhile when computer start I get a message that says something like "setting are not right for this monitor and windows monitor settings pop up... what with that?
i am shutting down computer now ...will be right back.
-
I tried to shut down by going to start and shut down ...
Screen went dim as if it was waiting for a program to stop,
through up the end task window, I said end task ... then it went as far as the windows 98 , window is shutting down screen and then it just hung there...
this is what happens most of the time ... it's like a program won't shut down.
then I hang in win 98 screen ..until i manually turn it off.
by the way I talk better than I type ...LOL
-
Just checking in
Can you try something for me
Go to START>>RUN>>type in
msconfig
Hit OK
Under the General tab>>Advanced button
Do you see a Disable Fast Shutdown
If so check it and OK out of msconfig
Try shutting down
I'm not sure what monitor you bought, you may want to check out this page for proper
installation of the drivers required and the drivers themselves
http://www.maginnovision.com/download.htm (http://\"http://www.maginnovision.com/download.htm\")
-
okay this is what I done...
went to msconfig..advanced
that was the only thing that was check so i unchecked it..
went to start chose shutdown..
I did this three times and all three times it shut down and restarted on it own... as if i had check restart (but I did not) on the Third time
i went back to msconfig and checked it again ...it restarted... then I chose shut down and it shut down likeit was supposed to ... I restarted it manually and I SWEAR it actually seems faster now ...programs are not slow to open like before ...internet shows up faster... I don't know if it is fixed but it worked properly this time.

There is a Windows 98 shutdown patch from Microsoft
But leave it the way it is for now and see if the problem is gone
-
will do...
thank you so much.. I will let you know how it goes.
