Title: cannot change desktop in xp

hi i had a solid color red desktop with a smartsecurity crap ad stuck in the middle for two days i finally got it off but now the display properties desktop tab the background selection is greyed out and cannot be changed.also when i go to control panel windows update exployer window will open but all i get is a white screen but no web site.desktop exployer icon works fine. ran all the latest ad/spy/virus stuff still the same. any suggestions?

Hi Steve, can you do the following
Go the the Tech Clinic forum on the General page
Read the top link where it says how to post a Hijackthis log

Start your own post in the Tech Clinic forum and post your log
