Title: Sound Card problem?

I have been running my music off my laptop ( Dell 9100 ) through my home stereo system.  Girlfriend didnt realised it was plugged in through the 1/8th inch on the side and picked up the laptop.  Didnt seem to cause any damage however now when you plug in headphones, or plug in the 1/8th inch plug for the stereo no vocals or melody can be heard.  It sounds like a low end kareoke machine.  However, when you unplug it ( which naturally switches the laptop speakers back on ) the music returns to normal.  I assume i lost connection somewhere in the connection with the headphones.  Anyways love to hear some advice and oppinions and what to do.

Same PROBLEM...wonder if you ever found out what it was.  Same laptop, same problem.
