Title: Can\'t Play Games From CD
Post by: Stee on September 23, 2001, 03:35:55 PM
My son found to his utter dismay he could no longer play his favorite cd-rom games after I upgraded from win98se to win2k. They used to be okay with the win98se. Can anyone help? The graphics card is Nvidia Riva TNT model 64. If I can\'t find a way out, I may have to uninstall win2k. Thanks.

Need a little more information ?
Can you still copy and Paste from the CD Rom Drive?
Can you see the files from Explorer on the CD Rom?

Did you upgrade over win 98 ?
Or was it a clean install ?

Have you done the Windows Updates ?
What Direct x version is installed ?

Nividia have seperate Drivers for win 2k !

Answer the above and mabey I can help more ?

It doesnt sound like a Hardware issue up to now /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Just zeros & ones ???

I have experanced that some game have copy protections that force direct hardware access to access the disk, the X-files is one of these games, all you can do is ether dual boot or check if these is a update for the game avalible.
