Title: my HJT Log file...and a question
Post by: jimtheclarkster on June 16, 2005, 08:43:45 AM
Hi,
Here is my log and some history.  I used to run AdAware and SpybotS&D, but since I moved AdAware freezes up while scanning and Spybot alone doesn't seem to be working as well as in the past.  (I just read about starting up in the safe mode -  /unsure.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> - and will find out how to).
  Thanks for any advice.

Can you do the following please
I suspect that both Ad-Aware and Spybot are out of date

Can you access your Add/Remove programs and Remove Ad-Aware
Then remove Spybot

Restart your computer afterwards

Back in Windows

Let's get you the latest versions of both installed on your system
==Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06 (http://\"ftp://ftp.download.com/pub/win95/utilities/aawsepersonal.exe\")
Ensure you have this latest version
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
Don't run a scan yet, but make sure it's updated

==Download and Install Spybot S&D 1.4 (http://\"http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html?part=104443&subj=dlpage&tag=button\")
Don't activate the Tea Timer when installing, it's a great feature but can get in the way of any fixes we may still have to do
After installation--Click the UPDATE button on the left
SEARCH FOR UPDATES on the right
Check, and download all updates
Again, don't run a scan yet

==Download and Install this small program
to help clean your temp folders, cookies, etc...
Windows Cleanup (http://\"http://downloads.stevengould.org/cleanup/CleanUp40.exe\")
Give the link time to load or try it twice, it may be busy
Alternate Download link (http://\"http://www.spywareaid.com/index.php?file=showsoftware&action=dl&softid=1&softtype=exe\")
We'll need this later

Please Print this out or save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE (http://\"http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001060608000039?OpenDocument&ExpandSection=4#_Section4\")
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads, or use the link
I supplied for a more detailed explanation

In safe mode
==Open Windows CleanUp!>>START>>programs>>Cleanup!
Click on the CleanUp button, let it finish scanning for files, when it's done
DECLINE to Log off when scan is done.

==Open Ad-Aware
Select, Perform a Full system scan
Before scanning, please uncheck "Search for negligibe risk entries"
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

RESTART your computer to finish the cleaning process
Please restart back into Safe mode

Back in safe mode
==Open Spybot
Click the Search & Destroy button on the left
Check for Problems---When the Scan is complete
FIX all selected promblems in RED

RESTART the computer back to Normal mode afterwards

Back in Windows

Run another scan with Hijackthis and post a fresh log

Title: my HJT Log file...and a question
Post by: guestolo on June 19, 2005, 12:46:55 AM
I merged your 2 topics, can you please stick with this thread

At what point does Ad-Aware freeze up at
Can you do the following for me please

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{D6DFF6D8-B94B-4720-B730-1C38C7065C3B} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C9DDAE22-A219-4974-8D76-86454AD519C1} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {86BCA93E-457B-4054-AFB0-E428DA1563E1} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ducrccb] C:\WINDOWS\System32\cyygwbsp.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ZTgServerSwitch] c:\program files\support.com\client\lserver\server.vbs
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wgomozaw] C:\WINDOWS\System32\cyygwbsp.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "D:\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [BitComet] "C:\Program Files\BitComet\BitComet.exe"

O8 - Extra context menu item: LimeShop Preferences - file://C:\Program Files\LimeShop\System\Temp\limeshop_script0.htm

The next 2 also, as it appears you remove Popup Eliminator
O9 - Extra button: Popup Eliminator - {A26ABCF0-1C8F-46e7-A67C-0489DC21B9CC} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdocvw.dll
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Popup Eliminator - {A26ABCF0-1C8F-46e7-A67C-0489DC21B9CC} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdocvw.dll

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot into safe mode

Find and delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\cyygwbsp.exe <-this file

In Safe mode
Before scanning try and uncheck
"Search for Negligible Risk Entries" and
"Search for Low Risk Threats"

Then start the scan,
If it still freezes can you do the following please
Run Ad-Aware again, if it's find many objects to clean
Stop the scan after about 20 found critical objects

Fix the 20 objects
Restart your computer back into safe mode
Continue running ad-aware that way until there are no more objects found
You won't have to do this all the time
Just this time

Restart back to Normal mode
Run another scan with Hijackthis and post a fresh log

Sorry I just saw your reply...Adware freezes somewhere on my C drive with no posted corrections on file at the time of the freeze...I will run it again ....Thanks...

EDIT
Code: [Select]
I removed your log from safe mode
Did you see the above instructions I did
Didn't realize you would be back so soon
If you see them, can you run the fixes also with Hijackthis I posted and then restart the computer before posting a fresh hijackthis log
Thanks ~guestolo~
