Post by: Cinder on June 28, 2005, 01:37:49 AM

Okay, well I wasn't sure what this is at first so, naturally, I scanned it using Jotti's online malware scanner (http://virusscan.jotti.org/) and it came back as an infected file.  Now here's my main problem:  I cannot find it.  HijackThis says the file is in my system32 folder and it's obviously there because the online scanner found it when i copied the path into the text box.  I went into folder options and unchecked hide protected system files as well as made sure 'show hidden files and folders' was selected...still can't find it.  Well, any help on how i may get rid of the file would be much appreciated me.  Like i said it's not a life threatening problem or anything, but it's really annoying lol.  Thanks!

Hi Cinder and Welcome!

Please have the PC Scanned Online Here
http://www.kaspersky.com/beta?product=161744315 (http://\"http://www.kaspersky.com/beta?product=161744315\")

The Scan will take quite a while to complete but will find a series of file related to an Infection called Qoologic!!

Make sure to delete all Infections found and Save a report from the Scan!

Use HijackThis and Remove the 04 you bolded out!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab
Make Sure Normal Startup is Checked!!

Click Apply>>Close>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!!

Please download FindQoologic from here:
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.ph...=post&id=134981 (http://\"http://forums.net-integration.net/index.ph...=post&id=134981\")
Save it to the desktop and run Find-Qoologic2.bat. This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see along with a fresh HijackThis log!

Thanks!

Title: Mysterious Malware File
Post by: Cretemonster on July 01, 2005, 06:05:42 AM
OK,there definatly alot going on in there

Have all these scanned at Jotti

C:\WINDOWS\System32\OOECEPI.DLL

C:\WINDOWS\System32\QQRVR.DLL

C:\WINDOWS\System32\BBQYQ.DAT

C:\WINDOWS\System32\NNKUKJ.EXE

C:\WINDOWS\System32\RRCQCNM.EXE

C:\WINDOWS\System32\OOECEPI.DLL

C:\WINDOWS\System32\QQRVR.DLL

C:\WINDOWS\CUSTOM~1.EXE<< See if you can get the entire name!

You may want to run find Qoologic again just before you scan to see if any names have changed!

You know what to do if they return Infected which I betting most will!

Now what became of C:\WINDOWS\system32\supdate.dll

Hey,
Well, i hate to say it but my stupid computer froze just when i was going to delete the files i had marked as hazardous.  You were correct in that it has made the situation more difficult.  After the reboot, i could no longer find any of the files as i had before, in my system 32 folder.  I tried rerunning through the steps above, and still it didn't work.  The one major difference I noticed was when I ran Kaspersky, the files it identified were located in the system restore database, so I cleared that and tried again.  Still no luck.  I appologize for prolonging the problem, but i really hope you can still help me out of this.  The computer rarely freezes, I think it's a hardware problem, possibly something to do with the video card.  Well, what should i do next, boss? /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Bump?
Title: Mysterious Malware File
Post by: Cretemonster on July 06, 2005, 02:39:48 AM
OK,Scan again with Find Qoologic and I am attaching a Zip folder to this post>> Download and Right Click the Zip folder and Select "Extract All"

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do

Allow this Entire Script to Run,its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up,Copy&Paste those results in the next post!

Now we need to see a Startup log from HijackThis

Hijackthis StartUp Log:
Open HijackThis,Select Config(Bottom Right)>>>Select Misc Tools>>> Select Generate StartUpList log and make sure that both Boxes beside it are checked:

Put a check by:
List all minor sections(Full)
and
List Empty Sections(Complete)

It will produce a NotePad Page,I need you to post the entire contents of that page to the next post!

Title: Mysterious Malware File
Post by: Cretemonster on July 08, 2005, 08:42:00 AM
Allrighty,here we go!

I am going to try to attach a file again,if you dont see it,check your PMs!

It will be a Registry file for you to use in Safe Mode!

Download Pocket KillBox from here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/killbox.php (http://\"http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/killbox.php\")
There is a Direct Download and a description of what the Program does inside this link.

Copy&Paste the list of files below to Notepad

C:\WINDOWS\system\wipkerw.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nnkukj.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\supdate.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qqrvr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\OOECEPI.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\QQRVR.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\NNKUKJ.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\RRCQCNM.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\BBQYQ.DAT
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ppdc.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\TheMatt\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ppdc.exe

Once Copied,Highlight and press Ctrl+C at the Same time to Copy!

Open Killox and Click "File">> Click "Paste from Clipboard"

This should paste the entire list into Killbox,to check, look for the first file in Killbox then click the Down Arrow beside it to See the rest of the files are listed in the drop down menu!

If not enter each one at a time into Killbox and Make these selections if available

"Delete on Reboot"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

Click "Yes" to Confirm

Click "No" to Reboot

Once at the last file

Click "Yes" to Confirm

Click "Yes" to Reboot

If you get a PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process! message then just restart manually.

Restart Into Safe Mode

Run all those files through Killbox again, this time make any of these selections available

"Standard File Kill"
"End Explorer Shell while Killing File"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

In KillBox>> Click Tools>> Click Delete Temp Files and Follow the prompts!

Locate the Reg File you Downloaded>> Double Click it and allow it to merge into the registry!

Go ahead and Run the Hoster again for Safe Measures!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab
Make Sure Normal Startup is Checked!!

Click Apply>>OK>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!!

Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here:
 Panda Active Scan (http://\"http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm\")

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work!

Save the Report it generates

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the report from Panda!

Okay, great!  Everything went smoothly as far as i could tell.  Two of the files i tried killing with killbox were not found by the program, but hopefully that won't be a problem...anyways, here is the fresh hijackthis report as well as the report from the panda scan.
