Title: instant messaging in Yahoo not Messenger

Hi!  I am running Windows xp.  While in Yahoo Games, I am unable to send or receive instant messages.  My Yahoo Messenger is fine but I don't always want to use it with strangers.  I believe the problem may be a simple setting.  Any ideas?  Thanks so much!
