Title: Win2k Install Error
Post by: dschwindt on October 01, 2001, 02:11:14 AM
I am having trouble installing Win2K Advanced Server on my machine.  It is an AMD K6-2 500MHz, 128MB RAM, 8.4GB drive, simple video card, floppy drive and CDROM attached.  Nothing special or out of the ordinary.  It will go through hardware detection, formatting the drive, and copying files.  When it attempts the first boot during the installation I get an error saying it cannot boot because ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupt.  Ntoskrnl.exe is there, so is hal.dll.  I have even manually copied and replaced them from the cd.  This is the only OS on the drive, I have made partitions from 1GB to using the full drive, formatted them in FAT32 and NTFS, and wiped the physical drive and installed again. Every time the same message.  Any suggestions?
