I have an acer tablet but the restore cds I have are not the ones from Acer, they apparently are retail cd's that require a prod. key from the package which wasnt sent to me. SO I have restore cd's that wont work, I could possibly change the cd code to OEM and maybe the prod. key on the bottom of the unit would work but I am not sure how this would work when XP is registered. Acers must use a volume license corporate key for their factory installs so no activation is required. Acer wont sell the restore cd's after warrantee is over - so that wont work, the install is hung from the cds sent me without the correct keycode number so I cant mirror the drive. My reading says the most straigth forward approach is to go to Microsoft website: How to change your product key due to invalid one for the purpose of installation of SP1, and by the new product key--- however this is for a running os, mine isnt. So I need a workaround to get the system restored hopefully with using the product key on the bottop of the acer c100 tablet and then burn a mirror using ghost for restore purposes. Question is - how do I do this. Most solutions will require activation and with out support from acer I am stuck when it comes time to register. :( Trying to do it right...
