is there a way to test to see if a powersupply works without hooking it up to anything????besides the wall and a floopy lets say??

if its an atx power supply, u will need to bridge the pson and psgnd lines using a piece of wire or even a paperclip (i believe that its the green and gray lines - could be worng). If the fan comes on, its most likely working. If you have a multimeter, check the voltages as well.
