Title: Made an image - what now?
Post by: Grandpa on October 03, 2001, 11:24:29 AM
My objective is to use cdimage to make an image on my C; drive and put it on a CD so that I could simply format the drive and replace all files in the event of a serious problem.  I understand how to create the image, and I think I understand how to make it bootable.  What I don\'t understand at all is how to transfer the files from the image (on CD) to the hard drive.  Sounds like a simple question, I know - but I am new to this image business.

The cdimage that\'s for download from this site, is really only made to make Microsoft Windows NT/2k/XP bootable CD\'s.  If you\'re talking about a different cdimage, I\'m not sure then.

I would recommend looking into Norton Ghost.  It can make an entire backup of your whole drive, or just certain partitions.  If you make a floppy image that will help restore this image, then you could make your cd bootable by using thta floppy image.  Most CD burning programs let you choose a floppy disk or an image of one to use to make the cd bootable.
