Title: Error Messages
Post by: chickey on September 25, 2005, 02:43:32 PM
[color=\"blue\"][font=\"Arial\"]Computer Info:
HP Pavillion 786
733 MHZ Intel Pentium
512 MB
20 GB (14.3 FREE)
Windows ME

I am having a few problems. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

Recently, for my job, I had to download a few applications.
VPN Client, Fusion and HMS Transcription. This was all one CD
they sent me.
After installing these three different applications, I noticed
a few slow downs and then I had to use a recovery on my computer.
It just wasnt running right. Although the applications I downloaded are running fine, I am receiving unusual error messages (never had them before).

Now each time I reboot or turn on the computer I get:

"Preparing System....this may take a few minutes"

Then immediately after that error message I get:

WINDOWS SCRIPT HOST
"Can not find script file
"C:\Windows\Temp\net\net\.js"

Then from my McAfee Anti Virus - I get the following Alert:
"The file C:\HP\HPTGUIDE\HPSTART\.WSF contains suspicipus scripting
activity and has been stopped".

It then lists options I have:
-Stop this Script
-Allow entire Script this time
-Find out more information
-Continue what I was doing.

When I try to download any software that is named;
Smartdownload.exe - I get this error message:
"Smartdownload has caused an error in Smartdownload.exe.
Smartdownload will now close"

I also cannot download SHOCKWAVE from Macromedia.
It says after nearly completing the installation:
"Windows acnnot find C:\Netscape/exe"

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read here that you need a Hijack this log file.
I have taken the liberty of running the Hikack this software and
prepared a log:

Here it isL And thank you for any help you can give me. Cheers!

When you installed your programs was McAfee actively scanning?

If so, it would be best to, uninstall your new applications, then
disable your McAfee Antivirus during a reinstall.

I disabled my McAfee during a recent install of a HP printer (6210)
and it still prompted me regarding a suspicious script!  I was watching
the install, so I knew to answer: "Allow" when it indicated this script.

I think what happened was that McAfee disallowed this file during the
install and you need it.

Best of Luck!
