A requirement I ask when reviewing a Hijackthis log
is that you take the time to register to the forum
It's a free and simple process
Afterwards, come back here and post a fresh hijackthis log
Include the Whole top header, which includes hijackthis version and operating system, etc....
-
I'm sorry I thought I had registered already! Hope I'm okay now.

Let's try the following
Can you open Ewido
Check for updates
If you have trouble updating make sure you have set your proxy settings in Ewido
The latest update should be of today
You can see that in the STATUS button of Ewido
If your not updated to today's date and have trouble updating, you can manually update from the following link
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ (http://\"http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/\")
EDIT>>Can you also disable Ewido's Guard under the Status button
We don't need it getting in the way of any fixes we are trying
After you are updated close out Ewido for now
I need you too save these instructions too a Notepad file
Start>>run>>type in notepad
Hit OK
Save this to your desktop
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE (http://\"http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001060608000039?OpenDocument&ExpandSection=4#_Section4\") without Networking
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads, or use the link
I supplied for another explanation
Once in safe mode
Go to START>>Run>>copy and paste the following in bold to the open field then hit OK
sc stop hwclock
Do the same for the next one
sc delete hwclock
Find and delete the following file if it exists
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hwclock.exe <-this file
==Open Ewido Security Suite
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
*1. Perform Action = Remove
*2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
*3. Perform action with all infections
Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com (http://\"http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com\")
After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows,
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis
Restart back to Normal mode
Post back a fresh hijackthis log
Also include the saved report from Ewido's
-
Thanks for helping!
Ewido found nothing to report.
Here is HIjack Log.

Sorry! That last post was me!
For some reason I keep getting logged out!
-
Go to START>>Run>>type in
services.msc
Then hit OK
In the Services window on the right hand side
look on the right hand side for this service
name---- Messenger
Double click on it--- STOP the service--If running
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled
Do the same for Alerter
See if that stops the popups
By the way, those 2 services are disabled by default when you install Service pack 2
Which you should consider doing
If everything is running better, please do the following
You should disable system restore and then reenable it
This will clear all your restore points and ensure you don't restore any nasties
How to Disable and Re-enable System Restore feature (http://\"http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm\")
Once System Restore is reenabled
You should set up protection against future attacks
SpywareBlaster 3.4 by JavaCool (http://\"http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html\")
*Will block bad ActiveX Controls
*Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
*Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer
After installation, Check for updates and then click the "Enable all protection"
IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==Link to Tutorial (http://\"http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=53\")
Download link (http://\"https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm#IESPYAD\")
With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks
Keep the link to IE-Spyad bookmarked so you can check for updates
SpywareBlaster, after every update just simply click the "enable all protection"
IE-Spyad is compatible with SP2
