Title: c:\documents and settings\owner\complete

Hi everyone.  I recently got infected with some virus that created this hidden folder c:\documents and settings\owner\complete that held THOUSANDS of files that no one had downloaded (mostly porn, but some software etc.)  I followed another thread that had the same problem as me, but I'm not sure if it's fixed.  This is my HJ log

hello,

I have the same problem as well....except i cannot find the "complete" folder at all....i've tried looking for it in safe mode and even as a ghost folder and i cannot find it. Can someone please walk me through the steps on how to even locate the folder.

Anthony,

The way I found it was to open internet explorer then in the address box type c:\documents and settings\owner\complete

It should open the folder and you'll see all the files

It seems that my computer is still going pretty slow compared to what it used to be.  I check the "complete" folder everyday and it's still empty.  Here is my HJT log, thanks!

Can you try the following, let's make sure we get you clean

==Download and Install
Windows Cleanup! 4.0 (http://\"http://downloads.stevengould.org/cleanup/CleanUp40.exe\")
Don't run this yet, we'll need it in a bit
Alternate download location (http://\"http://www.spywareaid.com/index.php?file=showsoftware&id=1\") if having trouble with the first link

==Download and UNZIP to desktop
BFU.zip (http://\"http://castlecops.com/zx/Merijn/bfu.zip\")
So you now have BFU.exe extracted to desktop

Please Download and UNZIP to desktop
p2pnetwork.zip (http://\"http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=400\")
Make sure you unzip this so you now have p2pnetwork.bfu extracted to desktop

Open Ewido
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link after you have Ewido installed

In safe mode

Double click to run BFU.exe
Use the "Open Script file" button (the folder icon next to Scriptfile to execute)
Navigate to p2pnetwork.bfu on your desktop
Right click p2pnetwork.bfu and choose Select
In Brute Force Uninstaller select Execute
Let it finish then Exit

==Open Windows CleanUp!>>START>>programs>>Cleanup!
Click on the CleanUp button, let it finish scanning for files
DECLINE to Log off or Restart when scan is done.

==Open Ewido Security Suite
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
  *1. Perform Action = Remove
  *2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
  *3. Perform action with all infections
  Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido

Restart back to Normal mode
Back in Windows, I need to see a few logs

Run hijackthis again and post a fresh log, also include the Report from Ewido's

Can you do the following please
Right click an empty spot on the desktop and select NEW>>Folder
Name the new folder
HJT

Now, right click on hijackthis.exe and select CUT
then Paste it into that new folder you created>>HJT

If you didn't intentionally install PartyPoker, access your add/remove programs and remove it

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = :0
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ShowWnd] ShowWnd.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [p2pnetworking] p2pnetworking.exe

The next ones are not needed on startup, I recommend you fix them with hijackthis, if you require them too load on startup you can restore the backup that hijackthis makes

Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot your computer
