Title: General Video Card Support Question
Post by: seekdestroy16 on October 31, 2005, 08:44:17 PM
I'm looking at other cards that arent in my VGA video card support list and I'm not sure if they could work or not. I got the VGA slot 4x/8x and my specs are: Touch System Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.40GHz 760 MB of RAM
Here is the link to my video card support list: http://www.asrock.de/support/AGI8X_LIST/p4i45gv_r50_xp.htm (http://\"http://www.asrock.de/support/AGI8X_LIST/p4i45gv_r50_xp.htm\")
I already had a problem with a ATI Radeon 9550 256mb but I was new with PC's and now I'm more aware of specifics in upgrades now. (I was originally a mac guy). Let me know and thanks in advance.

Your 'VGA' slot is actually known as 'AGP'...or 'accelerated graphics port'. So just look for any card that is an AGP card.

also, tell us what you do with your computer (office work, video editing, gaming..), and I, or someone else, can recommend a good card for what you're doing.

I just wanna run bf2. I saw some good nVidea cards at www.tigerdirect.ca but I dont see any on my AGP support list and these cards are supposed to be "plug-in and play" so I'm not 100% sure that any of them will work. I wanna know so that I dont end up returning one again.

ANY card that uses the AGP interface will work...don't worry.

I would suggest you get a Nvidia 6600/ATI 9800 or higher to see medium-high settings on BF2. It's a very demanding game.

Where do you live?

In the US, you can use http://www.newegg.com (http://\"http://www.newegg.com\") I have heard wonders about them.

I live up in canada and I'm not sure if newegg.com ships to canada but I imagine so. I found the same card on www.Tigerdirect.ca and it's actually cheaper than the american one...plus faster shipping and all. I now know what card I wanna get so thanks for the tips!.

I see, well tigerdirect.ca looks like the best site with the best deals around (besides ebay). I look forward to buying some stuff from there.
