My computer originally came installed with Windows ME. I joined the Windows XP Preview Program and installed Windows XP Professional clean on the system. Now I understand that to be eligible for upgrade pricing, I need the original CD Key for Windows ME. My problem is that my OEM gave me a CD that is simply an image of the original drive configuration, so I don\'t have the original CD Key. Does anyone know how I could find it out?

They have to (legally anyways) give you the license for the OS for you to use it. They\'re supposed to put the license sticker on the PC itself. Look on the side of the desktop, under, etc. If there\'s no number anywhere, and they did not give you one...I\'d ask them some questions first.

*Edit: Please don\'t offer to give warez/keys here.

Look for a Window Me tag on your computer case. It may have the CD key on it, or look for your Windows ME license (on a book supplied with your computer)
I am not sure with ME, but you can locate the CD key in the registry of Win98SE
