Warning:  I did not mention previously that I have no official training on analyzing HJT logs, nor do I have any experience beyond my own personal anecdotes in dealing with spyware/malware/viruses.  One of the reasons why your post may not have been responded to by an individual who has this training is that there is a great possibility that this problem has been encountered previously and the solution has been made available in a previous thread.  Before trying anything that I suggest, please review the forum for old threads addressing your problem.

Hello there JimtheScot,

Just so you know, you've done nothing wrong - its just that this forum is probably not monitored 24/7 by those who can help you readily.

2nd Edit:  I've since removed my advice pertaining to your dilemna, not because I'm being an arse or anything, but because I do not feel that I have the necessary experience to help you.  Please search the forum for previously posted solutions to your problem, or continue to bump this thread if you can find none.

Thanks

Are your problems resolved?

Are you still having problems?? If so can you explain

About 2 weeks ago I got a report through my anti virus software that I had the
W32/Spybot.KJV, it was located in C:\xz.exe.
I ran my adaware that stated I had the
Win32.P2P-Worm.Alcan.a
I ran my anti virus that said it couldn’t remove it.
I ran  adaware, that removed it, but when I rebooted my machine it always came back.
Then last week my Pc wouldn’t start it said
“Windows\System32\Config\System Corrupt or Missing “
I then had to do a Windows repair with the XP disk in Safe Mode.
After that my I purchased Nortons Anti Virus suite, ran that.
So far the virus seems to be gone, I just wasn’t sure incase it is hiding somewhere.
Can you tell me, according to my first Hijack report, is their something there that  says I have the virus, and is it gone on the second report.
Does my second report appear to say my Pc is clean ???

Your log looks ok

Does ad-aware pick up anything?

Can you open your Task manger or registry?
Any problems on your side

yeah, i can open my Task Manager and Registry, and Adaware doesn't pick anything up now, so it does appear to be clear.
Before all this started , i downloaded Limewire, used it twice then my probs started.
Do you know is the Win32.P2P-Worm.Alcan.a, spread via Limewire ?
Oh, and thanks for all the advice.

Yes it does, and other file sharing programs
That's how you picked  it up
Remember to scan ALL downloads with an updated virus scanner before you open them

Also, These 2 free utilities will help prevent malware with your everyday browsing experience
SpywareBlaster 3.4 by JavaCool (http://\"http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html\")
*Will block bad ActiveX Controls
*Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
*Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer
After installation, Check for updates and then click the "Enable all protection"

IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==Link to Tutorial (http://\"http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=53\")
Download link (http://\"https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm#IESPYAD\")

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks
Keep the link to IE-Spyad bookmarked so you can check for updates
SpywareBlaster, after every update just simply click the "enable all protection"
IE-Spyad is compatible with SP2

Which incidentally, you should update too to help keep yourself secure, it's important to keep up on all Critical(High Priority)
Updates
