Not so much having problems with this drive but need some info. I purchased a WD 320 gig drive today to store just data. I am running a PC that I built up from scratch and have a WD 80 gig drive for system. I am running Win XP Pro. After I installed and formatting the drive I only have 298.09 gig on the drive. When I set up the partion it only offered just over 300 gig. I feel that losing 22 gig is alot and do not understand. Hopefully someone has some answers to this issue.

There's nothing wrong with that drive. My 160gb HD had 150gb of (useable) space.
The reason being that 1mb is actually 1024 kb (kilobytes).
So the manufacturers play on this and add it all up so teh drive seems bigger. Gets more noticeable as the size gets larger.

yea, thats right. my puter has a 500gb thats only 489.35 gb useable. thats very cheeky of them, coz i paid 4 500gb, not 490.
