PLEASE HELP!!!

You don't appear to be running any Anti-virus software on your computer
That's not a good idea
Do you need a free solution?
Let's try some intial cleanup, then we'll clean up the rest later
Can you open "MyComputer"
Double click to open Local Disk C: drive
Right click an empty spot and left click NEW>>Folder
A new folder will be placed in the C: folder , name it BFU
So you now have C:\BFU
Download and save p2pnetwork.zip (http://\"http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=426\")
Then UNZIP it to the BFU Folder
Download and save and then UNZIP to the BFU folder
BFU.zip (http://\"http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip\")
So you now have BFU.exe extracted
==Download and Install this small program
to help clean your temp folders, cookies, etc...
Windows Cleanup! 4.0 (http://\"http://downloads.stevengould.org/cleanup/CleanUp40.exe\")
Don't run it yet
==Download and then Install
Ewido Security Suite (http://\"http://download.ewido.net/ewido-setup.exe\")
When installing, under "Additional Options" Uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link after you have Ewido installed
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ (http://\"http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/\")
Please save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop for reference
RESTART your Computer into SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Choose Safe mode from the startup menu and hit Enter
In safe mode
Find and delete these files if found
C:\WINDOWS\secure32.html <-file
C:\secure32.html <-file
C:\WINDOWS\bxproxy.exe <-file
Open the BFU folder
Double click to run BFU.exe
Use the "Open Script file" button (the folder icon next to Scriptfile to execute)
Navigate to p2pnetwork.bfu in the BFU folder
Right click p2pnetwork.bfu and choose Select
In Brute Force Uninstaller select Execute
Let it finish then Exit
Stay in safe mode
==Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
* Empty Recycle Bins
* Delete Cookies
* Delete Prefetch files
* Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
When it's done, decline to log off or restart the computer
==Open Ewido Security Suite
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
*1. Perform Action = Remove
*2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
*3. Perform action with all infections
Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido
Note: When Ewido is running, don't open any other Windows, let it do it's job without interference
Run another scan with Ad-Aware
Restart back to Normal mode
Stay disconnected from the net, don't open any other windows
Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = c:\secure32.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\secure32.html

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis
reboot the computer one more time
Back in Windows
From my Signature below
Do an Online virus scan at Panda's
Use Internet Explorer to run this scan
Select to scan "Local Disks"
When it's done choose to See Report
Then save a copy of the report to desktop
Come back here
I need to see a few logs
1. Post a fresh hijackthis log
2. Post the whole report from Ewido's
3. Post the Report from Panda's
-
thanks i really apriciate the response, im gonna go to bed now cause i have to get up early, but i will work on this tomorrow and post up the results i get...thanks again
-
Ok I have done everything you said but after i ran Ewido my comp froze and i was unable to save the report. There were 625 infected files though, mostly zip files. So i went back into safe mode and ran it again. It came back with 43 infected files and they were cleaned sucessfully. Here is the log from that scan.

I need you to still do the following
Download SmitRem.exe by Noahdfear (http://\"http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click%20counter/click.php?id=1\") and save the file to your desktop.
DON'T run it yet
Please save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop for reference
Or Print this out
Close down all browser windows
Go to the Windows Control Panel and double click on the Java Icon to open it
Under the General tab
Click the Delete Files>>OK it
Then exit out
Reboot back to safe mode
Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
Find and delete the following files
C:\WINDOWS\kl.exe <-file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bnmsrv.exe <-file
C:\WINDOWS\tool2.exe <-file
C:\WINDOWS\toolbar.exe <-file
C:\at.exe
Navigate to your Temp folders
Without deleting the Temp directories themselves
Delete the contents of all the below Temp locations, including subfolders
# C:\Windows\Temp\
# C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
# C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
# C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
# C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
Navigate to the Complete folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Complete
Open it and delete any files you didn't manually download to that folder yourself
Run Windows CleanUp! again
Afterwards, still in safe mode
Double click SmitRem.exe and click on START to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.
Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
Reboot back to Normal mode
Post back a fresh Hijackthis log
Also, I need to see the log from the SmitRem tool
The log will be located here>>>>C:\Smitfiles.txt
Let me know also, if you were able to delete all those files I asked you too remove

When was the last time you did a Disk Defragment on the computer
What was the last thing you installed before the slowdown?
With all other windows closed, you can have hijackthis fix these entries
There not needed on startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
Your not running any Anti-Virus software on the computer
Use these links
AVG 7 by Grisoft (http://\"http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5\")
Avast Home Edition by ALWIL (http://\"http://www.avast.com/eng/down_home.html\")
If you need an AV, install either AVG or Avast
They both have free versions
Only install one, more than one can cause a conflict
After it is installed, make sure it is right up to date and run a full system scan
Reboot the computer afterwards
Post back a fresh hijackthis log

I dont even know when the last time a disk defrag was run on this computer. It is my mothers computer and yesterday my brother was apprently trying to get a password crack for one of his programs off a site and he downloaded a serial # or something and he said all of this started. I notice when windows starts at the welcome screen it usually plays a little jingle when it is starting up, but now it starts for a second and it cuts it off. I fixed those 3 entries with hijack this and downloaded avajst. I ran a scan and it found a virus and i deleted it. We are still running slow. Here is my most recent hijack this log.

Can you do the following
==Download and save WinPFind.zip (http://\"http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/oldtimer/WinPFind.zip\")
UNZIP the contents to your desktop
Don't run it yet
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Choose Safe mode from the startup menu
In safe mode
Take the time to run a Disk Defragment
This may take some time as it hasn't been done in awhile
Go to START>>All Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools
Disk Defragmentor
Let this run and finish
Afterwards
Open the WinPFind folder you extracted to desktop
Double click on WinPFind.exe
Click START SCAN
This could take some time as it will scan your drive
Close out after
Restart back to Normal mode
Post the results of the WindPFind.txt located in the WinPFind folder
-

Do u have any sugestions as to why when i open folders and stuff it still takes about 20 seconds for them to open? My avast keeps finding worms as well.
-

Could you do the following
Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box to notepad, not including the word "code"
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fix.reg
Save this file on the desktop
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg]
Double click on fix.reg and allow to add or merge to the registry
Reboot your computer
Let me see one last hijackthis log
How's everything now?
NOTE: Your new Anti-Virus comes with 6 different scanners
Not all may be needed on startup
Do NOT uninstall AVAST, but right click on the Icon by the clock and select On access protection
Then click on DETAILS
You should see all the scanners
DO NOT Terminate either Standard shield or Internet Mail shields
If you don't use OUTLOOK>>Whick is not the same as Outlook Express
You can terminate the Outlook scanner
If you don't use Instant messaging>>Terminate that process
P2P>>If you don't use terminate
You can find more info about the scanners here
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html (http://\"http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html\")
I would also leave Auto updating enabled
Avast will check home once a day for updates on first startup of each day

Well, the log looks clean
Not malware related anymore
Did you see my edit above about Avast
The above note is just for computer startup performance
I use it on my old P2 350 computer with no slowdowns
Did you Defrag the system?
EDIT>>Now that we cleaned that registry entry
Can you run the BFU fix one more time please
See if it makes a difference
-
Yea i did all that. I now have Avast on the computer and did a disk defrag. it is running better, its just takin a little longer than it used to to open programs. It is definetly 10x better than it was when we started this though. I really appriciate your help.
somethin is still using up like 80-95% of my system. i have a meter on the desktop and it is showing that the user is only using between 5-15% most of the time. Where as before this all started the system would rarely use that much.
-
Could be a conflict with a program installed
What's the spec's of the computer?
are there other users on this computer?
If so, to be safe, can I see a hijackthis log from another profile
Just saw your edit
What's using all the CPU
Can you open your taskmanager and take note please
-
Computer is about 2 years old. 512 mbs of ram, pentium 4, 80 gigs free. Its a pretty nice pc. Hadnt had any problems before.
there is 1 SVChost that is using about 95 % of the CPU I just noticed so i hit end process tree and my cpu moniter went down immidetly and everything on the computer is running perfect now.
sorry about the edit. i just noticed this...
-
95% is not too bad
That seems ok
If it was anything else but System Idle you might have problems
But with System Idle
the higher the better
-
no it wasnt system idle. if you noticed i edited my post. It was a SVChost. and i ended the process tree of it. and my comp is running great now. really weird
-
Svchost.exe is a legit file if running from the system32 folder
Don't attempt to delete it
and it's normal to have more than one running in your processes
But something may be conflicting
Now that you ended the process tree on svchost
Can i see a new hijackthis log please
Maybe we can see a change in the log
-

Can you try something
I have to step out for a bit, let me know how it goes
I see PCTools Spyware Doctor and Microsoft Anti-Spyware installed
Are you using the realtime protections from both?
Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Options>>Settings
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button
Then click the Autoupdater in the left pane and uncheck
the 3 boxes on the right and Save and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Reboot the computer
Back in Windows
MAS shouldn't start but if it does
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Is CPU usage still high?
