I\'m trying to make a new bootable Win2k cd, slipstreaming SP2 into it. I copy the full original cd into a folder, slipstream the SP2 into it, all seems well. I burn in CDR-Win 4.0a, since the older versions doesn\'t seem to support my Teac 16x CDRW-drive, and follow all the instructions. However, when I try booting it, it just stops with a cursor in upper left corner... Any bright ideas as to why this happens?

buy a new cd writer ???? hjehehe

If only we knew. Most people get the cd burned no problem. But some get the NTLDR not found, or nothing at all. There\'s another long thread here about possible causes, and solutions.

Hi RoadKill!!
Try to burn using CDIMAGE... it is great
I had the same problem and I have NEVER succeded burning a functioning bootable CD using popular CD-R software.
Use VMware 3.0 Workstation to test your ISO before burning it.
I do this:
I extracted boot sector by using CDR-Win 4.0a
I Make an ISO using CDIMAGE
I Burn the CD using WinOnCD -I prefer it to Easy CD Creator
I hope this info would be helpful

I prefer Virtual PC from http://www.connectix.com/ (http://\"http://www.connectix.com/\")
it\'s just a task of pointing to the iso and then start the machine, you can test any iso and instalation to see if it\'s good

dose it work when you do that?

WinISO works great for these tasks as well.

Argh... In order to troubleshoot my problem creating the cd, I took my original 2k-cd, copied the whole thing to d:2kstd and extracted the boot-sector using cdrwin 4.0a. Then I used CDImage with this syntax:
cdimage -lW2PIS_EN -t05/15/2001,12:00:00 -g -h -n -o -w1 -m -bd:boot.bin D:2kstd W2PIS_EN.iso
I didn\'t slipstream anything, didn\'t change anything, just plain copy and burn... And the bloody thing still won\'t boot! Frustrating as hell... I\'m using a Teac 516E IDE burner (16x10x40x), with TDK 10x certified CDRW-discs.
I\'ve tried burning the crap with Easy CD Creator 5.02b, CDRWin 4.0a (bypassing cdimage.exe) and Nero 5.5.5.1.
Can anyone help me out on this one? At a later point I\'ll retry slipstreaming SP2, and I\'ve made an unattended install script for IE6, so I thought I\'d put that baby in there too, but for now, I\'m having enough trouble just getting the thing to boot... It still just has the cursor hanging there, in upper left corner.

Out of curiosity,
Have you tried to boot off another machine. I have that problem on one of my four computers but it had to do with the Adaptec SCSI card in it. If it still does not work on another machine you may have a bad sector on the burner. I have run into that problem with machines at work. All you can do is check the warrenty at that point.

Hi!
Have you tried to use ...
1. -d option
2. Ready-extracted boot files

I finally got it running... Used another original cd as source. Noticed that the volume-name was different on the two cd\'s I use at work. Worked like a charm now. Thanks!
