Title: cpu
Post by: neosis on December 21, 2005, 02:04:36 PM
l have a question concerning my windows xp operating system. When i boot the machine it seems to run fine, once the main screen is up the operating system seems to work fine for about 1min or so then it freezes. i check the task manager and it tells me the cpu usage is 100%.

Knowing this i decide to reboot in safemode, use hijackthis to check for files which should not be allowed. l have taken the drive out and slaved it on one of my other machines to scan with Kaspersky were it found 15 viruses.

l put the drive back into the original machine, seemed to run alittle better for a few minutes but then the operating system when  back to its original state b4 i had scanned (100% cpu, Freezing). Something seems to be running in the background and eating up all the cpu usage.

Please help.

When your in Task Manager click on the Processes tab then sort them by CPU and see what process is using the 100% CPU. Only after identifying what process is using the CPU can any one help you in solving your problem.   /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
