Title: oem winxp
Post by: tdozerman on December 31, 2005, 10:09:10 AM
I have a computer with oem winxp. The install disk is winxp bundled with sony software and many other programs I don't want installed. How do I extract winxp from this cd and reinstall winxp by it self?

You can use Isobuster or Ultra ISO to extract your installation disc to a folder on your computer. then manually delete what you don't want. Be careful that you know what you are doing.
You can also use Ultra Iso to take the files and make a new bootable installation CD.

I recommend using Ultra ISO in conjunction with a program called nLite, which allows you to remove stuff you don't want from Windows itself(like IE, Outlook, etc). I slimmed a Windows reinstallation disc down to 280 MB. /biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

to me, it sounds like the disc u have is an image of the hard disk when the computer was new. these are useless if u want to install somewhere else because they aren't actually a copy of the windows setup disc.

If u want a windoze setup disc, go and buy one or go to a torrent site like http://www.torrentz.com (http://\"http://www.torrentz.com\") or http://www.torrentspy.com (http://\"http://www.torrentspy.com\"), download a torrent file for windows xp. Get a torrent client like Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/), open up the torrent file u downloaded from a torrent site and dowload away.

I know a dude(wink wink) that successfully used a Dell XP OEM disc to install Windows XP to an HP computer, so I know it can be done, but probably most of the time it won't work in general.

Try use magiciso iso creator (http://\"http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-overview.htm\") to extract all files and folders from installation disk.
